Il documentario "Il Relitto dei Dolia di Marciana Marina" è una produzione di 52 minuti del 2011, disponibile in HD per il broadcasting.

polarStream Multimedia, in collaborazione con il Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali (MIBAC) e la Soprintendenza per i Beni Archeologici della Toscana, ha realizzato una produzione che documenta lo scavo subacqueo di uno dei relitti di epoca Romana più importanti del Mediterraneo, il relitto dei Dolia di Marciana Marina, risalente a circa 2000 anni fa. Un relitto vergine, scoperto casualmente nel 2002 e da subito esplorato dalla Dott.ssa Gambogi del MIBAC che assunse la direzione degli scavi effettuando 5 campagne, finché nel 2010 arriva la conferma che il carico del relitto è praticamente intatto, come una sorta di “capsula del tempo”.

Una campagna di scavo ad una profondità di 65 metri, ben oltre i limiti dei subacquei del Ministero, effettuata dall’Explorer Team Chimera, un’affiatata squadra di subacquei tecnici profondisti che hanno ideato e progettato speciali attrezzature utilizzate per aspirare il sedimento dal fondo.

Un carico straordinario costituito da 10 Dolia, enormi contenitori adibiti al trasporto di vino e olio, utilizzati in un ristretto periodo di tempo (dal 50 a.C. al 50 d.C.), che consentirà agli studiosi di approfondire molti aspetti delle tecniche di navigazione e delle rotte marittime commerciali in epoca romana.

polarStream Multimedia, in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities (MIBAC) and the Superintendence of the Archaeology of Tuscany, produced a documentary about the underwater excavations of one of the Mediterranean's most important Roman shipwrecks, the Dolia wreck of Marciana Marina, which dates back to about 2000 years ago. A vergin wreck, accidentally discovered in 2002 and explored since then by Dr Gambogi of the MIBAC, who assumed the direction of the excavations and made 5 campaigns, until in 2010 she finally had the confirmation that the load of the shipwreck is practically intact, like a sort of “time capsule”.

An underwater excavation campaign at a depth of 65 meters, well over the limits of the divers of the Ministry, carried out by the Explorer Team Chimera, a tight-knit team of deep technical divers who designed the special equipment used for sucking up the sediment from the bottom.

An extraordinary load made up of 10 dolia, huge containers used for the transportation of wine and oil, employed in a limited time-range (from 50 B.C. to 50 AD), that will allow the archaeologists to delve into the many aspects of the navigational techniques and the ancient Rome's trading maritime routes.
